Privacy

This is a volunteer project with no money in it, so the honest version is short: we collect the least we can, we publish almost none of it, and we never sell any of it.

Your name and email, used to email you

You give us your name, email address and ZIP code. We use them to add you to the count and to send you updates about the movement. We do not sell, rent, trade or share your information with anyone, and there is no advertising anywhere on this site.

Four things, and one is optional

When you add your name we store your name, email address and ZIP code. If you fill in the optional "why I'm in" box, we store that sentence too. That is the whole list.

The ZIP code is there so we can describe where support is coming from — how many signers are in a given state, which parts of the country are showing up. It is never published on its own.

A first name, a last initial, a city

Nothing you give us appears on this site unless you wrote a reason in the optional box and a volunteer approved it for publication. When a quote is published, it is attributed like this: MARISOL R. — SAN ANTONIO, TX.

That is a first name, a last initial, and the city and state your ZIP code maps to. Your email address, your full last name and your raw ZIP code are never published, and the signature count is only ever shown as a total.

Hashed, never stored

To stop one person signing a thousand times, we need to tell signups apart. So when you sign, your IP address is combined with a secret value and run through a one-way SHA-256 hash, and only that hash is saved. The IP address itself is never written down. The hash cannot be turned back into an IP address, and it is useless to anyone who doesn't hold the secret.

There aren't any

No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising cookies, no session recording, no third-party analytics of any kind. We do not track how you move around this site, and we can't — the code to do it isn't here.

Three services, each doing one job

Cloudflare hosts this site and stores the signature list, and its Turnstile tool runs the anti-bot check on the signup form. Resend delivers our email. Your mailing list record itself lives on our own self-hosted server at mail.readyforaoc.com, not in a third-party marketing platform.

One more, for completeness: the fonts on this page are served by Google Fonts, which means Google sees the IP address of anyone who loads the site. We mention it because a privacy page that skips the inconvenient one isn't worth much.

We never ask for it

This project takes no donations and runs no fundraising, ever. That is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight — it keeps this a list of names rather than a list of donors, and it keeps us out of campaign-finance territory entirely. We will never ask you for money, and we will never pass your details to anyone who will.

Unsubscribe, or ask us to delete you

Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately. If you'd rather be removed from the record altogether — the signature as well as the mailing list — email [email protected] and we will delete you. You don't have to explain why.

Not the campaign, and not affiliated with one

Ready for AOC is an independent, volunteer effort. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, or coordinated with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, her office, or any campaign committee. Questions about any of this go to [email protected].

If this page changes, the date changes

If we ever change how any of this works, we will update this page and move the date at the top. If the change is a meaningful one, we will say so in an update and in an email rather than quietly editing the page.
